Patricia L. Fietz took office as Deputy Chief of Mission Kuwait on August 14, 2017. She is a diplomat with 23 years of experience in the Foreign Service. She began her career in 1994 in the United States Information Service in Cairo, Egypt. She subsequently served in Colombia, France, Hong Kong, Syria, Washington and Toronto. Most recently, she served as Consul General in Guayaquil, Ecuador 2011-2014. Before joining the Foreign Service of the United States, she taught English in Spain and Greece, Italian in the United States and worked in the tourism industry in Spain, Tunisia and Switzerland.
Ms. Fietz has a Masters in International Relations from Boston University; a Masters of Public Policy and a Certificate in Urban Planning from the University of Princeton; and a Certificate in Hispanic Studies from the University of Salamanca, Spain. She is native to western New York State near the city of Buffalo and Niagara Falls, where she earned a Bachelors Degree in Spanish and Italian from the University of Buffalo. She speaks Spanish, Italian, French and Arabic.
Ms. Fietz has three sons and five grandchildren.
