Kuwait City, Kuwait
February 23, 2015
Kuwait’s National and Liberation Days are scheduled for Wednesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 26. Festive celebrations, large crowds, and heavy traffic congestion are expected throughout the long weekend, particularly along the Gulf Road and Salmiya. The Ministry of Interior will augment the presence of emergency services in these and other areas.
Please stay current with media coverage of local events. If you go out, be aware of your surroundings and practice personal security awareness at all times, including avoiding crowds and keeping vehicle doors locked and windows up.
U.S. citizens traveling and residing abroad should enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at https://step.state.gov. U.S. citizens without internet access may enroll directly at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate at their destination. By enrolling, U.S. citizens make it easier for the Embassy to contact them in case of emergency.
