April 10, 2020: Message for U.S. Citizens: Commercial Flights Departing Kuwait to Frankfurt and United States Next Week

The U.S. Embassy has been informed of two commercial flights departing Kuwait next week:
Jazeera Airways flight to Frankfurt: April 15
A Jazeera Airways flight with limited seat availability for U.S. citizens will be departing Kuwait on Wednesday, April 15 at 9:15am to Frankfurt, Germany (Frankfurt Airport). The arrival time in Frankfurt will be 2:00pm. The cost of a one-way ticket from Kuwait to Frankfurt is KD 200.
Frankfurt Airport is currently operational with daily commercial flights to the United States. U.S. citizens will be responsible for all costs and onward travel arrangements from Frankfurt (lodging, final destination, local transportation, etc.). Please note that passengers must be ticketed on a connecting flight in order to be permitted to transit through Germany.
If you are interested in departing to Frankfurt, Germany, please complete the online form at https://bit.ly/2XrnTpA by 3:00pm on Sunday, April 12. One form must be completed for each individual traveler.
Interested passengers who previously submitted an online form but were not able to secure a seat on the April 10 Jazeera Airways flight do not need to submit another form.
Jazeera Airways will contact interested passengers directly for ticketing and payment. Please do not call Jazeera Airways directly.
Lufthansa Airlines flight to Chicago and Newark via Frankfurt: April 16
A Lufthansa Airlines flight will be departing Kuwait on Thursday, April 16 at 10:45pm to Frankfurt with direct onward connections to Chicago (O’Hare International Airport) and Newark (Liberty International Airport). The cost of a one-way ticket from Kuwait to the above destinations start at KD 580 for Chicago and KD 523 for Newark.
U.S. citizens will be responsible for all costs and onward travel arrangements from their destination of choice (lodging, final destination, local transportation, etc.).
If you are interested in departing to Chicago or Newark, please email the Lufthansa service center directly at agencysupport.gcc@dlh.de. You may also call the service center directly at 2228-5886 from Saturday through Thursday between 8:00am until 6:00pm.
Lufthansa Airlines will contact interested passengers directly for ticketing and payment once demand is met.
Reminder:
Potential travelers should consult CDC guidance on travel, consider health conditions at their final destination, and remember that they will not be able to return to Kuwait until the airport re-opens and commercial service has been restored. U.S. citizens who wish to depart Kuwait should also ensure that their travel documentation is in order, that there is no travel ban on their departure, and that they have funds to purchase tickets.
