Temporary Suspension of Dogs Entering the U.S. from High-Risk Rabies Countries
Event: On June 14, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) announced a temporary suspension for dogs imported from countries the CDC considers high risk for canine (dog) rabies, including from Kuwait. The policy is effective July 14, 2021. This suspension also applies to dogs arriving from countries NOT at high risk if the dogs have been in any high-risk country during the previous six (6) months. We are unaware at this time how long this suspension will last.
Please note that these rules apply to all dogs, including puppies, service animals, and emotional support dogs. These rules apply whether you are (1) just visiting the United States with your dog, (2) importing dogs into the United States, or (3) traveling out of the United States and returning with your dog after a temporary visit, such as a vacation or holiday. If you do not follow these rules, your dog may not be allowed to enter the United States.
