In the event of a true life or death emergency, such as an arrest, death, or victim of a crime, U.S. citizens may call +965-2259-1001 during business hours the call will be connected to the American Citizen Services unit. After business hours, the call will be directed to the Duty Officer. This number is not to be used for visa inquiries, appointment requests, or other non-emergency matters. Please use the appropriate email address for all other inquiries.
The Office of Overseas Citizens Services (OCS) at the Department of State in Washington, D.C., is the point of contact for family members in the United States who are concerned about a U.S. citizen family member abroad. You can reach OCS 24 hours a day by calling 1-888-407-4747 or 1-202-501-4444.
The Consular Section is located in the U.S. Embassy in Bayan, Block 13, on Masjed Al-Aqsa Street. Services are available Sunday – Thursday (excluding American & Kuwaiti National Holidays), by appointment only. For further assistance, please contact the visa unit through one of the following:
American Citizen Service
American Citizen Services is located inside the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy in Bayan, Block 13, on Al Masjed Al-Aqsa Street. Our business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and services are available by appointment only. We are closed on all U.S. and Kuwaiti holidays listed on our website.
For non-emergency matters including questions regarding a specific issue, please contact our office by email at KuwaitACS@state.gov. You may expect a reply within 2 business days.
For emergencies involving the health, safety and welfare of a U.S. citizen during business hours, please call +965 2259 1001 and explain your situation for the operator to direct your call appropriately.
